Onlays & Inlays are another restorative dental treatment similar to getting a large filling. The main difference is that Onlay/Inlay are filled with gold, titanium, or porcelain instead of plastic resin.
Another difference is that instead of being fitted and molded directly in the mouth like a filling, onlays/inlays are created in a lab from an impression of the tooth and then are bonded with the tooth. Find out if Onlays & Inlays are right for you by giving our office a call and scheduling your consultation.
What is it like to get an Onlay/Inlay?
Onlay/Inlay tooth repair requires two appointments to apply. At the first appointment the decay will be removed and cleaned and an impression of your teeth will be taken. We will then send the impression to a lab where an exact fit for the missing part of the tooth is created.
At the second appointment we will make sure no decay was missed and then bond the onlay/inlay to your tooth and seal it in place.
Inlays or Onlays
- More conservative approach to repairing teeth because they preserve as much of the tooth as possible.
- Great for filling cavities located between teeth because they seal the teeth better and keep bacteria out of the teeth in the future.
- They are less likely to stain or discolor
- Designed to fit an exact space in the tooth before it is bonded together.
